Installation

WordPress Installation

WordPress is well-known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances, installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less than five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools to automatically install WordPress for you. However, if you wish to install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help

Theme Installation

Using WordPress Panel

  1. To install a theme, log in to the WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Appearance -> Themes and click on Add New
  3. Click "Upload Theme" and send .zip file of the theme
  4. Activate the theme after uploading

Using FTP Client

  1. Using FTP client, go to wp-content/themes folder on your hosting account
  2. Copy the unzipped theme to the abovementioned folder
  3. Activate the theme in the WordPress admin panel by going to Appearance -> Themes and clicking Activate

Child Theme Installation

Use Child Theme if you want to introduce any modifications to a theme.

A child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality and styling of another theme, called the parent theme. Child themes are the recommended way of modifying an existing theme.

hinimal-child.zip contains a "Child Theme" prepared beforehand, which should be installed just like a regular WordPress theme. Remember that "Child Theme" should be installed after installing the parent theme.

Import Demo Content

We included an exported XML file from our demo. Thanks to this file you can make your website look just like our demo.

  1. In the WordPress admin panel, go to Tools -> import
  2. Install WordPress importer
  3. Import demo.xml file. Make sure that you ticked the option "Download Media Attachments"
  4. Wait for WordPress to finish importing

Translations

hinimal is translations ready. We suggest using PoEdit to create a translation. Translations files are called hinimal.pot and can be found in languages folder. To create a translation into your language, copy this file and change its name and extension to .po, for example for French this file should be called fr_FR.po. Complete lists of codes can be found at (country codes) and (language codes). Open the created file in PoEdit application and make the necessary translations. After saving the changes, a .mo file will be generated, containing the translations.

Hint: In order to change the language, go to Settings -> General and enter the change in the field Site Language.
